Data Requests
IslandWatch only works if you trust us with your information, so we keep this simple. You can ask to see what we hold about you, fix it, or have it deleted. This page explains what we collect and how to make that request.
Last updated 19 February 2026
What information we hold
- Your account details — your name, email, phone number, and address.
- Your vehicles — the make, model, year, colour, and licence plate of each vehicle you add.
- Driver details, if you add them — a driver’s name, phone number, licence number, and date of birth.
- Your vehicle’s location — live and past GPS position, speed, and movement from the tracking device. This comes from the device in your vehicle, not from your phone.
- Your trips — the routes you take, start and end places and times, distance, and the data behind your weekly Safe Driving Score (speeding, harsh acceleration, harsh braking, and collision detection).
- Your alerts — events your device reports, like movement, tampering, geofence entry or exit, and low battery, each with a time and location.
- Your safe places — any zones (geofences) you draw on the map and their names.
- Your subscription — your plan, payment dates and amounts, and billing name. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and are never stored by us.
- Your app settings — your notification preferences, timezone, and the push token used to send alerts to your phone.
- Anything you send us — emails and support messages.
If you use IslandWatch for a business fleet, we also hold your organisation name, your role, your vehicle groups, and the contact details of any group managers you add.
We never sell your information. We share it only with the trusted providers that make IslandWatch work — our GPS tracking platform, our payment processor, mapping (to turn coordinates into addresses), and our push-notification and email providers — and with the Bermuda Police Service, but only when you choose to report a theft. Some providers are overseas; our Privacy Policy lists who they are and what they handle.
Your rights
Bermuda has a privacy law called the Personal Information Protection Act 2016, or PIPA for short. It is now in force, and it gives you the right to:
- See the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to block, erase, or permanently delete your information.
- Change your mind and withdraw permission you gave us earlier.
How to make a request
Making a request is simple, and it is free. Here is how:
- Email us at info@islandwatch.bm. If you can, write “Data request” in the subject line so it reaches the right person faster.
- Tell us your name and the email address you use with IslandWatch.
- Tell us what you would like: a copy of your data, a correction, or to have it deleted.
That is all we need to get started. If anything is unclear, we will simply reply and ask.
Keeping your data safe: to confirm the request is really from you, we may ask a question or two before we act on it.
How long it takes, and what it costs
- We will confirm we have your request soon after you send it, and complete it within 45 days, as Bermuda law requires. If your request is large, the law allows up to 30 more days, and we will tell you if we need them.
- Making a request is free. If Bermuda law ever introduces a fee for a full copy of your data, we will tell you the cost before going ahead.
Who looks after your request
A member of our team, our Privacy Officer, handles every data request. If you are not happy with how we deal with it, you can contact the Privacy Commissioner for Bermuda, the official body that oversees privacy on the island, at privacy.bm.
